About Kory

I’m Kory.

By day, I’m a software engineer. Outside of that, I build things: businesses, products, and systems. Some of it is software, some of it is hardware, and some of it is infrastructure. I’ve built everything from wireless internet networks serving my local community to hardware and software products in the shooting space.

This site is just another one of those builds.

Why I built VA Disability Hub

I didn’t build this because I’m “in the VA space.”

I built it because the system is unnecessarily hard to understand.

The information is out there, but it’s buried in regulations, scattered across different sites, and often explained in ways that are not actually helpful unless you already know what you’re looking for.

That’s a pattern I’ve seen in a lot of industries: complex system plus poor tooling equals frustration for normal people.

So I did what I usually do and built something better.

What this site is (and what it isn’t)

This isn’t a lead gen funnel.

I’m not selling services.

I’m not trying to position myself as a VA expert.

I’m building tools and explanations that make the system easier to understand.

That means:

  • Calculators that actually reflect how the VA math works, not approximations
  • Straightforward explanations without fluff
  • Clear breakdowns you can use to make real decisions

If something is confusing, I try to simplify it.

If something is wrong, I fix it.

If something is missing, I build it.

Why I care about this

I’ve had family serve, including my brother-in-law in the Marine Corps, and I’ve seen how frustrating it can be to navigate this stuff.

You shouldn’t have to become an expert in VA policy just to understand what you’re eligible for.

And you definitely shouldn’t have to rely on guesswork.

How I approach building this

Everything I build, whether it’s a product, a network, or a tool like this, follows the same principles:

  • It should actually work in real life
  • It should be fast and simple to use
  • It should solve a real problem, not just look good
  • It should get better over time

This site is no different.

What Kory works on at VA Disability Hub

  • The combined rating calculator, including the weird edge cases
  • Compensation tables and updates
  • Content structure and explanations
  • Performance and usability, especially on mobile

Final note

This is one of several things I’m building.

It’s not my whole identity, but it is something I care about getting right.

If something on the site is confusing, wrong, or could be better, reach out.

I’ll fix it.

Have feedback or found a bug?

VA Disability Hub gets better when veterans tell me what's broken, what's missing, or what they wish the calculator could do. I read every message.
